Wednesday 7th July

A bright, clear and hot day greeted our arrival in France on Wednesday, for a leisurely trip down to Le Mans.  In true british style our arrival at the circuit meant we had to queue to get into the Le Houx camping but we were lucky enough to have the services of Herve Lequippe, driver of the second Spitfire on the grid, on our side as he had secured a shady position under the trees for our group.

Picture courtesy of RICK WILSONHaving secured the camping ADU 1B made her way to her paddock garage on Plateau 4, a nice position behind the grandstands and pit lane garages, her residence for the next few days

With 1B happy in her garage the lads made their way to driver check in to have their suits & licences checked, and finger prints taken to allow access to the Drivers Club.

Once ADU1B was settled and sorted we then went off to the Hotel de France, La Chartre sur le Loir, for meal and a trip down memory lane.

Thursday 8th July

Another bright and hot day greeted the team as we headed for scrutineering of ADU1B, fortunately short, sweet and uneventful, making all the pre-leaving preparation well worth the effort.  Having gone through scrutineering the team was able to have a leisurely day, with the only thing being required of the lads to get dressed up (black tie) and attend the drivers dinner at the local abbey.

Friday 9th July

A drivers briefing at 1 o'clock and two practice sessions were to be our only commitments for the day.

Saturday 10th July

Round 1 - 17:10 to 18.10

Another dry, sunny and hot day, with temperatures we are certainly not used to in England.

Plateau 4 was to be the second grid out this year and it was decided that Alistair would take the 'mock' start with the run across the track.  Once away they were then re-grided on the Bugatti circuit for a rolling start.

..and off we go under the Dunlop bridge

Ian takes the chequered flag to complete Round 1,

a slick pit stop and no problems encountered during the session

leave us in 45th position on scratch at the end of Round 1.

Round 2 - 01:14 to 02:07

Early Sunday morning and it is somewhat cooler than during the day, a what a blessing for everyone and the cars.

Ian takes the initial drive out and a well timed and executed pit stop will leave us in 50th on scratch and 28th Handicap

Sunday 11th July

Round 3 - 09:35 to 10.28

Ian started the last session for Plateau 4, but an early pit stop and 1B's reluctance to go without a little push from the pit lane meant that we were given a 2 lap penalty for being outside of the pit window.  But this was not to dampen our jubilation as Alistair brought ADU1B home to take the chequered flag.

A marvellous result for 1B and Team JIGSAW

Round 3 - 49th Scratch and 44th Handicap

With the final result being

41st Sratch, 29th Handicap and First in Class

A true Triumph for Triumph

All packed and ready to go
