FIVE SPEED GEARBOX CONVERSION

Improve your acceleration, cruising capability & driving experience with a five speed gearbox conversion kit, now available for the small chassis Triumphs - Spitfire, GT6, Herald and Vitesse.

 

This conversion offers you modern gearbox reliability and performance in a compact lightweight package, fitted with short shift gear lever remote (thus in the same place as the original) and with the option of close ratio.

 

This conversion adapts the Ford type 9 gearbox to mate directly to the back of the Triumph 4 or 6 cylinder engine using your existing bell-housing.

Starter Kits include

Adaptor plate & bolt set, Clutch plate, Clutch cover, Clutch bearing, Spigot bush, Propshaft, Gearbox mounting kit & bolt set, Speedo cable & clip

 

Full 5 speed kit with short remote gearbox include

Fully reconditioned short remote gearbox with all new bearings, seals, synchros and gaskets.  Starter kit, gearstick gaiter and Quickshift gear lever

 

Parts carry a 12 month warranty and kits come complete with all necessary bolts, gaskets and fitting instructions

 

 

Fitment of the gearbox

This is a bolt-on kit, which should require no cutting or drilling, and can be fitted by anyone with a good base knowledge of mechanical engineering.  You will require an average tool box, ramps or axle stands, jack and gear oil.  There is a good day's work involved in fitting the kit, so we would recommend that you allow a weekend to fit it, or we run a fitting service if you prefer.

 

FAQs

Can I install it myself?

This kit, as with all our conversions, comes with full instructions and can be installed by a competent mechanic or enthusiast.  We are usually available on the phone to answer any questions you may have while you are working on the car.

 

Will it make servicing difficult?

No.  You will experience no difference in servicing of the car on a regular basis.  One other advantage of the

5-speed kit is that the gearbox can still be removed from the car as in the original manor, thus keeping any clutch servicing as viable as if the original box were fitted.
