JIGSAW  helps to look after and maintain cars from the full range of Triumphs including everyday, concours and track cars.  Our customers come from all around the UK plus a few from the near continent including Holland, Germany & Belgium.

Spitfire MkIII - owner HELEN ELSTROP

The latest car to be worked on by JIGSAW and prepared for the Equipe GTS race series, was the MkIII Spitfire of Helen Elstrop.  Helen is wife of Colin, who drives our Le Mans Spitfire ADU1B in the same championship.  The body work underwent a few changes with a new bubble top fitted, Le Mans style bonnet, sill finishers, rear spats and wheels, together with a full paint job, Le Mans style.  As her car had stood for a number of months a full suspension, brake and engine check completed the preparations, and Helen competed for the first time at Brands Hatch in August of this year, and then again at Zandvoort in  September.

Both cars are fitted with JIGSAW Stage 2plus, super doper, engines.  Both units  being fitted with competition valves and our own billet flywheel.  Robs engine is also running our design forged pistons.  With the engines producing 210 & 185bhp, at the wheels, respectively.  Both cars are running Lucas mapped fuel injection systems, and our own mapped distributors which follow the advance curve of the camshaft for optimum performance

The Simo Lampinen, TR7V8 ex British Leyland Works Rally Car

Owner & Driver - Bert Smeets, Belgium

When Bert Smeets of Belgium came to us last year with his ex works rally car to undertake a re-spray on his car we were honoured to be entrusted with the task.

OOM 514R's arrival at JIGSAW minus paint! The car when competing for BL Motorsport, took part in 1000 Lakes, San Remo and RAC rallies, and carried the number of TUD683T, but now sports another works registration number, OOM 514R.  Bert purchased the car thinking an engine rebuild was all that was required, but some two months later a complete restoration has been carried out.

At, JIGSAW, we undertook the extensive job of repainting the car.  Unfortunately for Bert his father was a little too enthusiastic with the pressure washer, and not only did the paint fall off, but the primer became loose and the filler fell out. Mick the Paint, our dedicated paintshop man, finishing off the paint work It was down to our dedicated paint man to assist with this work and to make good the damage done.  Other work involved the removal of some Escort RS grills that had been installed in the front panel, the car was then refilled, primed and painted in its original colour scheme.

Bert thanks Mark for all his hard work at the time of collection, prior to travelling back to Belgium

We were pleased to have assisted Bert in his preparation of this ex works rally car for the Classic Rally Series, and wish him the very best when he eventually competes in the car.

Unfortunately due delays beyond Bert's control it took a little longer before he could compete in the Classic Rally series, but he got there in the end, and the following photographs detail some of the additional work that Bert carried out prior to entering an event.
